Hungary’s MEDIAWAVE to host Iran’s ‘Where the Winds Die’

Iranian animation ‘Where the Winds Die’ is to vie at the MEDIAWAVE Int’l Film and Music Gathering in Hungary.

Iranian animation ‘Where the Winds Die’ has been scheduled to vie at the MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Gathering in Hungary.

Directed by Pejman Alipour, the animation will represent Iran at the 32nd edition of the Hungarian event.

‘Where the Winds Die’ is a 13-minute animation about the chemical attack by the Iraqi regime on the Iranian town of Sardasht, in West Azarbaijan Province, in 1987.

The former dictator of Iraq bombarded Sardasht with chemical weapons, killing more than 1,000 and injuring more than 8,000 civilians, many of whom were permanently disabled.

The Iranian animation received the best human rights award at the Music Film Festival in France.

Also set to compete at the World Festival of Animated Film (Animafest Zagreb) in Croatia, the animation went on screen at the Athens ANIMFEST in Greece.

One of the main goals of the MEDIAWAVE Gathering is to promote independent films that have themed upon the central issues of human life.

The festival will be held in the presence of filmmakers in four categories: feature films, documentaries, animations and experiments.

The 2022 edition of the MEDIAWAVE fest will be held on May 4-7.
